The Blair Witch Project - Low Budget Filming

There are multiple key features that can affect the cost of a movie.
These include:

- Production costs

 The budget for this film was $22,000 and with the three main actors being payed $1000 a day for an 8 day shoot, we can definitely assume that they went over budget.

 When creating this film though a lot of the features that are costly were not needed, there was little set design to be done as it was all filmed outside on location, there was also very little music in the film besides the short piece at the beginning. The actors went through a tough auditioning process and the three main actors that were finally cast were paid $1000 per day. There were many props used in the film including all the camping equipment and the wooden witch symbols that were hung up in the forest. There was minimal artificial lighting used as it was all filmed primarily in real time and the only artificial lighting used was the torches during the night scenes. There were only two cameras filming everything, one smaller hand held camera and a larger slightly more professional film camera. There was minimal editing apart from putting all the separate clips together and editing the length of them to only include relevant scenes. There didn't appear to be much makeup used in the film, this was probably to make the actors look more tired, dirty and overall more like they had been lost in the woods for a few days. Costumes probably didn't cost them much either as they all wore mostly the same clothes for the whole shoot. Marketing and production costs were probably the most costly features of the film as they had to pay to release the film and advertise for it as well.

Induction Task - Change of Hands

The Lady Under The Stairs

 This is the short film that my group and myself created for our induction task, in which we had to show a parcel changing hands. We had to use a variety of camera angles when filming but everything else was up to us. We decided to go for a silent film as we didn't see the need for much dialogue, and it was hard to record dialogue without a proper microphone as some scenes where shot from a short distance. We filmed most of the scenes at Helen's house but also filmed a few scenes in a drama room at college.
 If we had more time we possibly could have filmed everything in one location, Helen is also wearing different clothes in different scenes as we had to film on multiple days. I think that the filming could have been slightly better by using the tripod better and by using more technical angles. If we had more time we could also have shot some more scenes to carry on the story slightly more. We could have also done with planning a story board before hand so that we knew what to film and when.
 I am quite happy with how this turned out though, even if there are a few parts of it that could be improved. I really like the black and white style of the short film and how it is all slightly sped up and put together.

Strength

the state of being inferior in quality or

insufficient in amount. The plants in the image

are clearly inferior in quality to others.

Love

This image represents love as many different 

people share a love of music, this love of

music can also bring completely different

people together.

Fear

This photograph represents fear as everyone

shares a fear of exams, even if people deny

fearing exams, there is always something about

them that makes people slightly scared because

of the pressure there is to do well.

Desire

This photo represents desire as many people

share a love of books and reading. Owning lots

of books is a strong desire for most of these

people.

Danger

This photograph shows danger as the signs

posted on the door clearly state that it is

dangerous to use the door and that it is alarmed.

Wealth

This image represents wealth as it is a cash
machine is a very popular and easy source of

money, for those who have it.

Weakness

This photo represents weakness as the sports

hall it is taken in is empty, this shows

weakness as no exercise is being done and

there is no portrayal of strength.

Loneliness

This photo represents loneliness as the person

who is in the image is alone, surrounded by

 empty chairs, he also seems quite sad.

Friendship

This photograph shows friendship as both the

individuals are happy. They are both smilng

and laughing which suggests that they are

good friends.

Purity

This image shows purity, as the car is very

clean and shiny. The white colour of the car is

also a representation of purity, as there are no

visible flaws.

Greed

This photo represents greed, as the vending

machine is clearly used regularly and all

the food is quite unhealthy yet desired by a
